Wow...what a culture shock. There's people and cars everywhere. So easy to get lost. Can't speak the language. I feel so small.

Okay, I'm just in Paris.

Things have been great so far. Smooth plane ride followed by a killer hotel. We visited Notre Dame cathedral, Musee de Orsay and the Eiffel Tower. I was so tired standing in line at the Eiffel Tower that I fell asleep. It didn't help that once we got to the first landing, the elevator broke and we had to climb SIX HUNDRED flights of stairs.

Had some awesome food on a cool cobble stone street last night. It's freezing and I have a thin coat so we didn't hang out too long. The highlight of the day was my chocolate/banana crepe I got from a street vendor. Unreal.

I board my Delhi plane in about 30 minutes. I don't feel like the trips really started yet. The culture shock is coming.

Later for now!

  2. Oh yah! Well I ran seven hundred flights of stairs while balencing a cup of explosive gas on my head, six hundred pounds tied to each leg, and seventeen hungry lions chasing me all the way up.

  4. Hey Mr. E!!!!!! can't belive you saw the Eifle Tower! Have fun in India! (REMEMBER: Don't stand in dorrways for too long, dont stay by a window, keep your back to a wall and look at whats coming at you, if a guy comes in with a backpack or big puffy coat: That's bad, and DON'T RUN TO SMALL EXPLOSIONS: RUN AWAWY FROM THEM!!!!)

    Have fun!

  9. Dude, remember there are three very important rules for surviving culture shock:
    1. Have a safe place (should be mental)
    2. Raise your voice and slow down when somebody doesn't understand you.
    3. Remind people that you're American, over and over.

In addition, when talking about this or that, you should immediately point out how this or that is better in America.

Follow those rules and you will be just fine:)

  13. Mr. E, glad to see you are transiting well and listening to my advice. I understand from T that you informed the class of my words of encouragement...and see that some are repeating them to you in here. Here is one more...on a lighter note...don't eat at the Subway in the Delhi airport either...and never eat any uncooked vegetables (i forgot to mention that to you). Hope the remainder of your trip goes smooth.
